Detectives working under “Operation Origin” have now linked the raids, which have all taken place since January 31. A police statement says: “The robberies have taken place at business premises in Reawla, Cubert, Scorrier, Porthtowan and Lanner.

Police said the man, who wore a scarf covering his face, demanded money before stealing a small quantity of cash from the till. Ms Hitchman was in the cottage at the back of Reawla Village Stores at the time and was quickly alerted by her assistant.
