CUSTOMERS at a South Devon pub were briefly evacuated on Saturday night after a fire in the electrical insulation. Fire crews from Newton Abbot were called to the Church House Inn at Torbryan near Ipplepen after reports of smoke at around 8.25pm.

The Old Church House Inn in Torbryan in South Devon has changed hands off a guide price of £470,000 freehold. It has been bought by new landlady, Amanda Mitchell, from London. The historic Coaching Inn and Hotel is Grade II Star Listed.

The Churches Conservation Trust, the national charity that cares for 347 unique churches around England including Torbryan church, faces a bill of £7,000 to restore the damage caused by the thieves hacking the panels out of the screen during the theft.
